02/22/2024 – Seek God’s glory, not your own
1 Corinthians 10: 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— 33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
The moment we gave our lives to Christ, we became recipients of countless blessings. One of the greatest blessings, and one we seldom think about or thank God for is the gift of purpose. The Bible reveals the purpose of our lives. God created us for His glory. It is evident that God created us. But even more wonderful is the purpose of our creation: God created us for His glory! (Isaiah 43: 7). Many people wonder the reason they live. They are seeking a meaningful purpose in this life. There can be no greater purpose for a creature than to be an instrument to proclaim and magnify the glory of the God of all the universe! Nothing is more righteous, and nothing brings more joy or greater reward to a person. Any good purpose energizes, motivates, and engages you, but nothing compares to the motivation and the joy of leading your life and the life of others to acknowledge and magnify the glory of God! God has designed us and equips us for that purpose, and He will use us to surely accomplish it! Not just at church or at the end of our lives, but in all we do always.
What is required to glorify God? How does it happen? How does God do it? Glory begins on the inside. Before you can glorify God with your actions, you must glorify Him with your thoughts and intentions. Before God can be glorified by you, He must be glorified IN you!
The standard for my actions is no longer if I have a right to do it, but: will it glorify God. And the most tangible evidence of this is not that it will bless me…but that it will bless others. This is only possible when we establish His kingdom AND RULE in our own lives.
