03/12/2024 – God’s Thoughts Are Much Higher Than Ours
Isaiah 55: 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Our blessing comes from very high, and the way to it represents the process of our sanctification. God’s way is completely different from all our ways, especially those that seem righteous. This path is always toward holiness, unity with God and with his people. The purpose of God’s Word is not to support our views. Let’s notice how we refer to our opinions: this is my point of view. The analogy of a point is appropriate to illustrate how small and limited our knowledge is. The Word presents starting points and builds a path from them.
How many times our views are in error… and we don’t even know it. We defend and even fight for our views just because they are ours and we want to be always right. How often points of view lead to bad decisions, arguments. But even when our views are correct, they will never be enough to lead us to the fulfillment of God’s purpose. Choosing a point of view puts us in opposition to those who see things differently and fills us with a conformism that prevents us from seeking the highest truth, the truth that can only come from God.
Always seek God and His ways. Be humble and admit that His plan is better, His power is greater, and the best we can do is follow Him.
