10/09/2026 – Bring Down the High Places
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 33: 1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. 2 But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel. 3 For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; he raised up altars for the Baals, and made wooden images; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.
Reflection: The high places were mountains where the people of God worshipped their gods, and in some cases, the real God. They represent the achievements we think bring us closer to God and make us worthy of His favor. People loved the high places and the kings who wanted to remain popular would have to allow them.
King Manasseh would do anything for power. He even sacrificed his own children to idols. Some of humanity’s most horrendous sins are driven by our desire for power.
Look nowhere else for power—God is your source! There is only one mountain that brings us closer to God: the place where our Lord Jesus gave His life for us. Bring down all the high places in your life and come to Mount Calvary!
