10/02/2026 – God’s Meeting Place

Scripture: Exodus 25: 18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work you shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. 21 You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. 22 And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.

Reflection: God commanded His people to make two Cherubim. They are angels whose job it is to guard the throne of God. They first appeared at the entrance of the garden to protect it from the sin of Adam and Eve. They surround the throne of God in the vision of Ezekiel. He saw four living creatures who are guardians of righteousness.

The Lord is jealous of His glory. He is not willing to have it trampled. We are to guard, above all things, what is precious to God. The Lord calls us to be vigilant and pray- to be on guard.

The mercy seat represents the throne of God. God designated a meeting place- a place of communion. He is everywhere, but He has not chosen to manifest His presence or communicate with you at the place of your choosing. He has provided a place: the Throne of Mercy. If we want to communicate with God, if we want to obtain mercy, we must come to His throne. We can approach His throne confidently because of the blood of Jesus!
