09/23/2026 – A Treasure in an Earthen Vessel
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4: 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
Reflection: We live in a world of contrasts. One of the greatest is the contrast between what is outside a person and what is inside. Our outer appearance may give no indication of what is within us. We are very good at hiding what is inside. We may present a pleasant appearance while concealing profound pain. On the other hand, our appearance may be humble while we hold the greatest treasure within us.
Our new beginning took place when the light of the glory of Christ shone in our hearts, changing our chaos into order. The glory of God is the brightness and the infinite worth of His eternal existence and His attributes. We know His glory because He has revealed it to us. We have been given the ability to see the glory of God everywhere, and to identify the essence of the glory of God in the face of our Lord Jesus Christ. Where people saw a carpenter, a teacher, a philosopher, a prophet, you see the Son of God, your redeemer, your Lord, your king! He has sent His Spirit to dwell in your spirit! The glory of God resides inside of you!
