06/16/2026 – Doing What is Right Leads to Perseverance
Scripture: Proverbs 24: 15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not plunder his resting place; 16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Reflection: Perseverance is joined to righteousness. This is not self-righteousness, but the justice that comes from God! What God determines right can never be destroyed. It will stand forever. A house built on the word of God cannot be destroyed! Christ promised that His church would never be destroyed even if hell itself wages war against it! The reason you cannot be destroyed is that God has declared you righteous by the sacrifice of Christ. No enemy can destroy you- not even death!
But even though you cannot be destroyed, in the good fight of the faith you will be knocked down more than once. That gift of righteousness does not guarantee that the wicked will not plunder your resting place. But it does guarantee that you will rise again every time! Proverbs seems to indicate that God may allow a perfect number of negative interventions (seven) in your life to form you into the person He wants you to be!
