09/30/2025 – Resist the Devil
Scripture: 1 Peter 5: 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
Reflection: The command to resist the devil involves standing firm against the temptations and deceptions that he presents. The term “resist” suggests a defensive posture, like a soldier holding his ground. This resistance is not done in human strength but through the power of God, as believers are called to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18)
Hold the ground you have conquered for Christ! Retain what you have gained in Christ! Do not let anyone move you from the faith in which you are rooted.
Our Lord provided the best example. He resisted the devil through prayer, fasting and living the word of God. When we do that, the devil will flee from us.
