06/04/2025 – God is in our Midst
Scripture: Ephesians 3: 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Reflection: Christ is not with you to make your life easier. We naturally would prefer that the power of Christ would work to our benefit by eliminating our enemies or at least reduce them. But we still must face our enemies. Christ defeated sin; but we still must face sin. He defeated the devil and the world, but we must still struggle with them. He is with us to strengthen us in our inner person. And that strength comes directly from the presence of Christ dwelling in our hearts! He is not at the door of your heart for a visit- He is at the door of your heart to dwell with you!
The Father so loved humanity, that He gave us His only Son, not just to die for us on the cross, but to be with us always. One day He will return, and we will see Him face to face, and we will be with Him physically for all eternity. But we need Him now. We are nothing without Him. And the way He is with us in this life is by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit brings the words of Christ into our minds, into our hearts and into our actions. Psalms 46 promises the following: God is amid her; she shall not be moved. This Psalm reveals the reason we must not fear even if the mountains crumble and fall into the sea. The reason is that God dwells amid His people. The dwelling place of the most-high God is not a building made by people. It is the heart that He made, and He conquered on the cross of Calvary!
