02/17/2025 – Becoming a Servant
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9: 19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.
Reflection: The love of Christ compels us to serve. The apostle Paul made himself a servant. It is awful when someone else makes you a servant against your will. That has taken place in the world and it is a great injustice. But when the love of Christ compels you to become a servant – that is great before God.
In His earthly ministry, Christ was driven by the responsibility to serve. We focus so much on what we want and not enough on our responsibilities. The better you fulfill your responsibilities, the more you will be blessed.
Christ began at twelve years old to prepare for this responsibility to serve the Father and humanity. You need to equip yourself so that you are prepared for every good work. He is Lord of all, yet He did not come to this world to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.
