02/13/2025 – Conquering the Storm

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Scripture: Matthew 8: 23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Reflection: Christ had given His disciples a new life and a new purpose. No enemy, no obstacle could get in the way of Christ fulfilling this purpose in their lives. He was leading them, and as long as they followed, they could not fail.

The Lord sent them into a storm. It was a test of their faith in Him. He wanted them to know that they would face struggles. Obeying God is never easy. The way of salvation is a narrow and difficult path through this life. But God is with us every step of the way. He will calm every storm and lead us to victory.

Our God has invested all of His power, all of His glory to save us. He did so by giving His only son to die and live again for us! He did this so that He could have fullness of peace and that He could show in the ages to come the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
