08/15/2024 – Dwelling in the Secret Place of God
Psalms 91: He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler

Our most expensive physical need and the one that requires our greatest investment is our need for shelter. We need a physical place for protection from the elements and dangers of the physical world. When the heat is oppressive outside, when the cold of winter settles in, most of us have a place where we can be safe and even comfortable. We should thank our heavenly Father for that. He has given you shelter.
But where do you dwell spiritually? Regardless of where you dwell physically, you must choose a spiritual dwelling. The God who has provided His Spirit as your breath of life, who has provided His son as your bread of life, has also provided Himself as your dwelling place. Wherever you are and wherever you go, the presence of God wants to surround you and cover you to be your shelter and your protection! He does not desire a weekly visit or even a daily visit. He wants to always dwell with you! You cannot afford to be without him for a second of your life!
The most foreign place to our human nature is the presence of God. We fear it, hide from it and even deny it. But God invites us not just to believe it, not only to seek it from time to time, but to dwell in it- to make it our permanent dwelling. God wants us to dwell in Him! In the presence of God there is a place for you- it is a secret place, a place where evil cannot reach you! It can’t even find you! A place of confidentiality where you can trust Him with your most intimate secrets and where God can show you what is not evident anywhere else. Do you need answers? There are mysteries that are only solved in the presence of God! The only place where you can be guaranteed salvation and fulfillment in this life is in the presence of God.
