03/05/2024 – Abundant Life

John 10: 7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Christ revealed that He came so that we have life and have it more abundantly. God’s desire for us is not just survival. Christ did not come to us just to save us from damnation and death. He came to provide all we need for an excellent, joyful life- a perfect life! For this He died on the cross! God wants us to rejoice not only in heaven after we die, but while we are on this earth. Our lives must matter- make a difference, be light and salt! A life abundant in the fruit of the Spirit! Abundant in love, in joy and in peace!

Is your life abundant? Is it lacking? The first requirement for the abundant life Christ provides for us is understanding what that life looks like. Each of us has our own concept of the ideal life, the happy life. We need to make sure that our understanding of a good, abundant life aligns with God’s description of it.

Abundant life is not the result of perfect circumstances, but of a perfect God guiding you through the desert and the storm! Abundant life results from overcoming challenges and temptation, from perseverance through all the trials God sends to us. An abundant life is a life of victory for the glory of God.
