06/25/2024 – What is Being Written About You?

Eddy De La Hoz   -

2 Chronicles 32: 24 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death, and he prayed to the Lord; and He spoke to him and gave him a sign. 25 But Hezekiah did not repay according to the favor shown him, for his heart was lifted up; therefore wrath was looming over him and over Judah and Jerusalem. 26 Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

God has promised that He will write in His book our works of faith and He will reward us. When God acts in our favor, what is the proper response? There must be a response that is appropriate to the favor received. The more we are forgiven, the more God provides and heals and gives us life, the more we are to praise and serve Him and give to others!
We can never repay God for His grace; but that doesn’t mean we do nothing when we receive it. King Hezekiah enjoyed fame and recognition for God’s victory. I believe this is where his problem started. We must never get so overwhelmed with the enjoyment of God’s grace that we forget to respond to it. Then he got sick and God told him he was going to die.
Once again Hezekiah cried out to God, and God responded with mercy. He gave the king 15 more years. But this is where Hezekiah showed the great flaw in his heart. He failed to repay the favor he had received. Are you repaying according to the favor you have received from God?
Our most important response in life is our response to God. When Hezekiah received this amazing miracle, he was grateful; but he did not respond according to the grace he received. He was proud. He may have thought: I have overcome. I have a story to tell. This will be written about me…
Instead, we find written about him that he failed to respond according to the grace received. And God was angry with him and the people suffered for it. What is being written about you regarding your response to God’s favor in your life?
