11/27/2023- Worthy of Being Counted
2 Thessalonians 1: 11 “Therefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power…”
Those who are counted by God, whose names are written in the Book of Life, must demonstrate that they are worthy to be on that list. It is great to get the job…but then you must do it! It is a great honor to be counted as a soldier; but then you must fight.
Is your name written in the Book of Life? At this moment I cannot think of a more important question for you. If you are not sure, you must make sure! If you are sure your name is on that list, I call on you to live every day in a way to be counted worthy to be on that list. To be clear, the reason you are on that list is the grace of God. You were not worthy to be on the list. But now that you are…you are not to continue in your sin. You are not to sit back and wait for, or worse, demand the privileges of those on the list. You are to take the gifts and the power of the Spirit available to you to show yourself worthy of God’s calling, to demonstrate the power of the grace of God to take the unworthy, those of no value, and make them valuable for the kingdom of God!
The more worthy you become, the more you glorify God. Not everyone on the list shines with the same brightness. God showed Abraham a multitude like the stars in the night sky. When you look at the stars, they do not all shine equally. Some are much brighter. Every star is important; but the brighter you shine, the more God uses you to bless others.
