08/21/2023 – Get Closer to God
James 4: 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
We have a good sense of how close we are to people. And we realize that certain relationships require closeness more than others. Closeness is directly related to the importance of a relationship, and it is clearly linked to the blessing that flows from that relationship.
The word of God calls us today to evaluate our closeness to God. No relationship is more important in your life than your relationship with God. It is not enough that you believe in God as your provider, your healer and as your savior. You need to develop a relationship with God.
How close to God are you? We are not able to measure spiritual distance in miles, feet or inches. But God knows exactly how close or how far you are from Him. He calls on you today…this call is for His people: get closer to God. You need, more than anything else right now, to get closer to God! You want God to use His outstretched arm once again and to remotely send help for you. He has done that many times. But what you truly need is to shorten the distance between you and God.
