09/29/2026 – Abominations Distance People from God
Scripture: Ezekiel 8: 6 Furthermore He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations.” 7 So He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, there was a hole in the wall. 8 Then He said to me, “Son of man, dig into the wall”; and when I dug into the wall, there was a door. 9 And He said to me, “Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they are doing there.” 10 So I went in and saw, and there—every sort of creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed all around on the walls.
Reflection: The central piece in every part of the temple is the altar of sacrifice. We glorify God when we sacrifice our lives to Him. Every time you deny yourself and take up your cross, you glorify God. Our sinful nature desires to make its own decisions and live far from God. But in Christ we overcome our sin and we can decide to do what God wants. Then God is glorified in our lives.
Sinful flesh conspires with the devil to drive God’s presence far from His sanctuary. God desires to establish His throne of holiness in your heart. The devil’s purpose in tempting us to sin is to prevent God’s glory from dwelling in us. We must flee from the sins that defile our bodies. Our lips should glorify God alone. The work of our hands must build lives, not destroy them. Our feet should follow His commands and not wander into places of sin. Then the throne of God can be established in our lives.
