06/15/2026 – Tribulation Produces Perseverance
Scripture: Romans 5: 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Reflection: One of the things we are most often warned about is boasting. We must be careful not to glory in our own abilities or success. We are to remain humble and give all the glory to God. Even in sports, celebrations are regulated. It is human nature to celebrate our victories. But we are told to glory in tribulations!
We may think we need perseverance to overcome tribulation. But it is the opposite. We develop perseverance through tribulation. The testing of our faith produces perseverance (James 1:2)
When I was about to complete High School, I heard the following words of advice that inspired me through my entire life: “All virtues deserve a crown; but only one virtue will be crowned: perseverance” This precious truth is revealed in the Bible. One of the essential requirements for the servants of God is perseverance. The dictionary defines perseverance as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.
To persevere, we must stay humble. We must give God all the glory. We must look for what we need to improve. We can never measure ourselves by what the Lord has done. Whatever we achieve in this world is the result of the mercy of God!
