03/16/2026 – Not a Trend, But a Process

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Scripture: Mark 6: 53 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. 54 And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55 ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. 56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.

Reflection: The woman who touched the hem of His garment had started a trend. People made an assumption that the way God heals is through the hem of His garment. We tend to make assumptions about how God works.

Many trends have entered the church over time. When we see the evidence of God’s work in a person or a congregation, it is tempting to try to limit the works of God to a formula that we can apply as we wish. I am sure you have seen evidence of this, from people trying to profit from selling “healing” oil and blessed trinkets to trendy ministries with packaged methods and programs.

Blessings are never the result of a formula or a trend. They require a process. The woman with the issue of blood went through twelve years of waiting and suffering. She put her faith into action when she decided to push through the crowd and touch the Hem of His garment at any cost. In the end, the Lord told her: “Your faith has made you well”. Let us imitate her faith and put it into action in our own individual process.
