03/09/2026 – Your Dominant Nature

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Scripture: Matthew 18: 8 “If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

Reflection: The Lord promised to save us from the snare of the fowler. But what about our own decisions? What if it is not the wolf or the bear that snatches us, but we drift away from His hand? The most harmful attacks come from within. The greatest risk to our salvation comes from the damage we do to ourselves. Our own old nature must be subdued under our new nature. This may require a type of spiritual amputation.

There are three elements of your old nature that are the primary reasons you may fall: your hand, your eye and your foot. These are representative of an internal struggle. It seems that one hand wants to give and the other does not. One wants to serve God and the other wants to serve the devil.
The good news is that we have a dominant hand. Similarly, we have a dominant foot, and even a dominant eye. One eye can see the glory of God and the other does not. One foot wants to walk in the narrow way and the other on the wide way. Our heavenly nature must be our dominant nature. If your old nature will not submit to God, you must sever ties with it.
