12/24/2025 – Do Not Sacrifice Your Blessing to Idols

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 28: 2 For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made molded images for the Baals. 3 He burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

Reflection: This is as horrendous a picture as anyone could paint for the people of God. It is difficult to imagine a worse condition. But it does get worse when we consider that king Ahaz was not just sacrificing his children to idols. He was sacrificing the heirs in the line of David. One of his sons had to succeed king Ahab on the throne for the purpose of God to be fulfilled. God promised king David that his children would sit on his throne forever.

One of the factors that led the kings of the people of God to deviate from His purpose was the temptation to sacrifice the future for the present. Evil kings wanted to do what would bring success in their time. You must know that the kingdom of God extends far beyond your time, your goals. It is greater than anything we can even imagine.

We often sacrifice the most precious blessings on the altars of the world. Many parents have handed over their children to the world. People who complain when asked to contribute to the work of God nevertheless go even into debt to satisfy their own desires. Repent. We are called to sacrifice ourselves for the kingdom of God.
