Thanksgiving Message – More Grateful than Ever
Scripture: Colossians 2: 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Reflection: Our God is infinitely good. He has proven that at every moment of our lives. The goodness of God is cumulative. The more we live, the more reasons we must be grateful. Today we have more reasons than ever to thank our God.
Too many people take blessings for granted and are nonresponsive to the goodness of God. It is possible to enjoy the air we breathe, our daily bread, and all the blessings God sends into our lives, and never demonstrate or even express gratitude. Above all, many still reject Christ. Humanity owes God an immense debt of gratitude.
But the children of God abound in thanksgiving. We give thanks at every meal. We gather as a church and sing to our God with songs of praise and thanksgiving. But beyond that, we demonstrate our gratitude by serving God, remaining rooted in Christ and established in the faith.
Today we are more grateful than ever. We rejoice to see our brothers and sisters in Christ persevering in the faith of Christ. Year after year, the church of Christ is being built. We march forward, growing and maturing in Christ. We see each ministry, each servant of the Lord, giving their best in the service of God. We rejoice even more seeing our children and young people glorifying God. Amazing. Thanks be to God.
