08/15/2025 – No Favoritism with God
Scripture: Galatians 3: 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Reflection:
This is one of the greatest blessings we have. This is more than a promise – it is a reality: we are ALL sons of God! We ALL have the honor of the beloved son! It may be one of the most difficult blessings for us to believe and enjoy. We tend to go to extremes. At times we feel worthless. This is when we try to take matters into our own hands, and we end up hurting others and ourselves. Other times, when the blessings surface, we may feel superior to others. Humans have enslaved other humans since the beginning.
Favoritism is common in human circles. Jacob loved Joseph more than all his children. He showed favoritism when he made Joseph a coat of many colors. This made him stand out and put a target on his back. It may have even stimulated pride.
Contrary to favoritism, God’s favor is a gift for those who are in Christ. It is the way God demonstrates delight. Does God delight in you? He delights in our Lord Jesus, and we are accepted in the beloved. You will face rejection by many in this world. People without God believe that they must overpower you to succeed. We may find this even among the people of God. There is an instinct to kill or to enslave to survive and succeed. But God will never reject you. He loves all His children and we are all one in Christ.
