06/03/2025 – Christ Sent His Spirit to Us
Scripture: John 16: 5 “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
Reflection: The disciples could not understand how the Lord could be with them if He was leaving to go to the Father. The main way the Lord is always with us is by communion in the Holy Spirit. The only way to truly have communion with Christ and to even believe in Him is by the Holy Spirit. We read that even as the disciples were seeing with their own eyes the resurrected Christ, and even as they were worshipping Him, still, some doubted. It wasn’t just Thomas. He expresses what others also felt. Christ did not look the same. He was not limited to their expectations. We doubt because we don’t see what we want to see, and do not hear what we want to hear.
It is to our advantage that as we go through this life, we do not see Christ as an external presence who will do everything for us, but as the person by whom we will do all things through the power of the Holy Spirit in us!
The Holy Spirit brings the teachings of Christ, the works of Christ into our minds and hearts, into our lives by faith. More importantly, the Spirit of God brings Christ Himself to dwell in our hearts!
