05/01/2025 – The Victory of Christ
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15: 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Reflection: The resurrection of Christ is not just a victory- it is THE victory. It is a complete victory, an eternal victory over sin and death, and it is your victory. God has made a universal promise to all of us who believe in Christ: victory! We each face different struggles, and some are stronger than others, even in our faith. But God wants you to be sure of the victory He has planned for you- not just a partial victory, but the ultimate: over death!
The death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross is the greatest confrontation of powers in the history of the universe. The most powerful forces in the world united against the Son of God. The Roman Empire was the most dominant power the world had ever known. The religious leaders, who were divided in so many ways, conspired together and misused the laws of God and man to kill the king of Glory. And they were not alone…the devil was at work with them having entered the hearts of many, including Judas.
The power of Christ defeated all the enemies of God and all our enemies. His victory was demonstrated when He rose from the dead on the third day. On that day, we were raised with Him, and His victory was given to us.
