02/20/2025 – God’s Masterpiece

Scripture: Ephesians 2: 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Reflection: Our works count for nothing regarding our salvation; but our salvation makes us a new creation for good works. God saved you so that you will accomplish the good works He had prepared for you. One of the most striking promises of our Lord Jesus is that those who believe in Him will do the works that He did. Jesus promised that our faith in Him will produce the works of God in our lives.

You are God’s workmanship. You are God’s masterpiece. All of creation reached its conclusion when God created a man and breathed life into him. God gave him dominion over the rest of creation. God put him to work. A masterpiece does not bring glory to itself. It brings glory to the author whose name is on it. God created you for His glory and you are called by His name (2 Chronicles 7:14). You may judge yourself harshly when you look in the mirror. It may seem that you do not meet the world’s standards. But God works beyond appearances. You are God’s workmanship.
