02/19/2025 – What you Must Do
Scripture: Luke 4: 42 Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; 43 but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.
Reflection: We have so many demands on our time and attention.But what is it that you must do? What are the crucial actions you must take in your life? You must take the actions required to fulfill God’s purpose.
Our Lord Jesus provides the perfect example to show us what we must do. The healing of Peter’s mother-in-law led to the entire city of Capernaum bringing all those who were sick to Jesus before nightfall. They waited until that time because it was the Sabbath. Despite the late hour, the Lord healed everyone. Hallelujah.
The people wanted Jesus to stay there, and so did the disciples. When you are feeling good, you may think you have arrived. But it is not about feeling good. There is a purpose beyond physical healing and provision. Our Lord had to challenge His disciples. He let them know that He came to do what He must do: preach the gospel. We must thank Jesus that He did not stop His ministry to satisfy the expectations of people. He did all He had to do for our salvation. He taught us how we must live.
