10/31/2024 – Do Not Forget Any of God’s Benefits – Part 2
Psalms 103: 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases; 4 Who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfies thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

David provides a list of benefits he has received from God. The second benefit is the healing of all our diseases. We need healing because we will be afflicted in our bodies, our emotions, our soul, and our spirit by a multitude of diseases. It is a reason for great joy to boast of good health. Some people claim: I never get sick. It is an even greater blessing that even when we get sick, the Lord is our healer. He has promised to heal us- even if this body is destroyed. He will restore us!
He redeems our life from destruction. Even after we fall- and we all do many times in this life, He is there to bring redemption to us. As many times as we fall, if we repent, God is there to rescue us.
God crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies. When we give mercy, we tend to do so condescending- in a way that makes us feel superior and the recipient of mercy, inferior. Sometimes we even throw it in their face. But when God gives us mercy, He crowns us with it. He lifts the poor from the garbage heap and sits us with princes! He saved us not to forever make us feel like we should have been lost; but to throw a feast and sit us next to Jesus on His throne!
He satisfies us with good things. No one else, nothing else can satisfy. But God promises complete satisfaction and renewal. He promises new strength like the eagles when their flight feathers are renewed. Eagles renew their feathers every year. You can only fly for so long on the same old feathers. The life of a child of God is a life of constant healing and renewal.
