10/17/2024 – The Compassion of Christ

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Luke 7: Luke 7: 11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

The Lord arrived at the city of Naim to find a situation that seems beyond all hope: a funeral for a young man.
Humans hang on to any hope available; but in the face of death, human nature gives up. No one would have thought to ask Jesus to pray for this young man. Even the disciples may have been thinking: “too bad the Lord did not get here earlier”. Wherever Christ went, He brought healing to all who were sick. Here was a young man who appeared to miss out on Christ. Do you have a situation like that? Is there a marriage, a relationship, a ministry that you consider beyond hope? I call on you today to trust in Jesus.
This woman had already lost her husband, and now she was burying her only son. In that society, she was left with nothing. This was the lowest point in her life. When we reach the lowest point in our lives, the grace of God reaches its highest point. His love and mercy run counter to our power and ability!
Our Christ is the Lord of compassion! He is not indifferent to human pain. We can lack empathy to the point that people watch an execution as if it was entertainment. Our Lord is moved to mercy when people suffer. Trust in the compassion of our Lord when you are suffering. He will amaze you with unexpected salvation. Jesus amazed everyone by raising this young man from the dead and returning him to his mother. Her joy must have been beyond description. So will be our joy in our salvation!
