10/10/2024 – God, our Great Deliverer

Psalms 34: 17 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. 21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22 The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.”

One of the greatest promises in the Bible is God’s promise of deliverance for His people. God has assured us that He will deliver you from ALL your troubles. God’s victory will be absolute in your life.

We are more familiar with other terms describing salvation. We know that we have been redeemed, forgiven… But God wants us to know that we have also been delivered. God has delivered you from all your enemies, from every affliction,

This promise affirms that we will have trouble. There are many situations from which God has delivered us through prevention. We may never know from how many troubles the Lord has kept us. But there are troubles we will have to face. God does not only deliver through prevention. There are human conditions that unless prevented will be fatal. There is no such condition with God. In fact, the opposite is true. The greater the trouble, the more glory in God’s victory.

This is most evident in the life of David. God trained David for victory through trouble. The lion and the bear were used by God to train David in the humility of service in his father’s fields. There is a visible progression in David’s troubles. When David was ready, God sent him to face Goliath. There are enemies we must kill. God prepares you and equips you so that you can kill your enemies.
