08/27/204 – Christ Overcame our Rejection

John 6: 35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will [f]by no means cast out.

Christ paid all to give us access to the throne of grace. We were kept away because of Sin; but He has removed that sin not only to save us from punishment; but specially to make us worthy to approach the throne of God. His door is always open. The doors in the New Jerusalem never close.

But He is much more than a welcoming God who waits for us to come to Him. He seeks after us! He has paid the highest price to get us to come to Him!

The issue arises when it comes to us welcoming God. Because of our sinful nature, we accept and seek after what is sinful, and we reject what is good. Not only that…, but in our sinful nature we also reject He who is the source of everything good.

The glory of Christ is exalted in that He was able to accomplish God’s purpose by overcoming the rejection of His people and the opposition of those in power. One of the greatest deterrents for good is rejection. If you reject treatment, medicine cannot help you. If you reject advice, psychologists cannot help you. When we offer help and people reject us, we tend to wash our hands and leave them. Thank God that Christ overcame rejection to save those who rejected Him.

Our Lord had to overcome rejection from the moment He was born. Think of this: He came to us to make us acceptable and to lead us into the kingdom of God. Our Lord is not only welcoming- but He also compels us to come to Him! He sent the Holy Spirit to lead us to His presence!
