07/31/2024 – You Will be my Witnesses!
Acts 1: 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

More than something we will do; this promise describes who we will become. Jesus promises that our lives will become a testimony to the glory of Christ. This promise speaks to the consequence, the result of the Spirit in our lives.
A witness is someone who knows the truth. The ultimate truth of who God is and who we are cannot be achieved intellectually. It can only be received through the work of the Spirit of God. But the other requirement for a witness is courage. Most people who know the truth are not willing to confess it, even to themselves. They would rather hang on to a lie than submit to the truth. The Spirit of God will not only reveal the truth of God to us, but also give us the power to proclaim it, even when we are rejected, hated and cursed for it. Even when it means doors will close for us, friendships will be lost and we may be harmed.
