07/17/2024 – A Taste of Glory is not Enough

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Hebrews 6: 4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace

Do not be satisfied with a taste only. Many have only tasted the goodness of God, but there is so much more to Him. The Lord often rebuked those who thought they had achieved a fullness of knowledge or communion with God based on a taste of the goodness of God.

We cannot maintain good health if we eat only for the taste. Food should taste good and that is enjoyable. But the true blessing of food is not in how it tastes…it is in the nutrients it brings to our bodies. We do not seek the word of God looking for a superficial and momentary blessing, one that satisfied our immediate and selfish desires. We seek nourishment. We crave that the word of God will bring the knowledge and the purpose of God to every area of our lives. Jesus said to Nathaniel: you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree…

Salvation is much more than a taste of glory. Your redemption from slavery to sin is only the beginning. Israel may have thought God’s ultimate purpose was freedom from the Egyptians, but that was only the beginning. They had a long road ahead of them, a lot of growing and maturing to achieve before they could fulfill the purpose of God. There is so much more…there is sanctification, glorification, ministry, service to God and others. This is growth…this is reaching the fullness of God.
