06/03/2024 – The Readiness of Christ
Luke 9: 51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.
The term “readiness” is never more crucial than when spoken in relation to an army. It is defined at the capability of the military force to meet the requests of their designated assignments or missions. The goal of military readiness is to ensure that the military force is ready and able to complete tasks at any time.
One of the attributes of Christ we take for granted is His readiness. He is always ready for any situation, for any challenge, for every need. There is NEVER any circumstance that surprises our Lord. He is always ready to conquer, always ready to save and to complete the will of His Father.
After three years of ministry, the time had come in the Father’s perfect plan for the only begotten son to go to the cross, to suffer and die. Christ was ready. He had devoted all His earthly life to prepare for this moment. Christ is ready to save you now! He is ready to forgive you, to teach you. In terms of His ministry, He is ready when you are!
How we need this quality of Christ in us. We glorify God for the readiness of Christ to do the will of God. One of the greatest obstacles to our blessings is our hesitancy. When the time comes in the will of God, we must be ready to jump into action. The main reason we have not received many answers and gifts is that we are not ready. It is not enough to ask- to receive, you must be ready.
