04/24/2024 – Christ Justified us in His Resurrection

Romans 4: 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

Christ in His resurrection completes the faith that is required for our justification. To be justified implies more than forgiveness- God declares us righteous and bestows upon us the righteousness of Christ. Because of Christ, whenever we come before God, He no longer sees our sins, He sees us as righteous in the justice of Christ!

The first to be justified was Jesus Himself. God the Father demonstrated the righteousness of Christ. While the world condemned Him and sentenced Him to death, the Father declared Him righteous and restored Him to life! God undid all the works of unrighteousness. Whatever is done without justice cannot stand, it cannot last. It will be undone by the works of righteousness. It is a waste of time to build on a lie, to gain from sin and vanity. It will be for nothing. But to build on the truth, to gain from doing good yields a treasure that can never be taken away!

Those He justified He also glorified (Romans 8:30). The resurrection of Jesus was different from the other miracles of resurrection in the Bible. Christ Himself had raised three people from the dead. They were restored to their previous life, to a body still subject to sin and death. But our Lord Jesus was resurrected to a body that was glorified. We will also be risen and glorified in Him!
