04/02/2024 – You Will be Baptized
Acts 1: 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Everyone who has genuine faith in Jesus as savior will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Notice I specify GENUINE faith. The Lord did not pronounce this You Will until after His resurrection. He pronounced it to those who were faithful until the end, the ones who endured. You have to live the seven I AMs before you can receive the first You Will.
The blood of Jesus covers our sin before God… but that is only the first step. The Holy Spirit brings the Holiness of Christ into our minds and soul to make us walk in paths of righteousness for love of the name of God. The Holy Spirit sanctifies our lives so that our words and actions are actually pleasing to God. This is not a one-time occurrence. This is a continual blessing. Every day we must be filled.
Let us believe in this baptism. Let us desire and seek this promise from our Lord Jesus Christ. He assured us that if we ask our heavenly Father, He will send His Spirit to us. Today more than ever, the church needs to be filled with the power of the Spirit so that we can be light in the midst of darkness and witnesses to the grace of God for salvation.
