03/29/2024 – Only Christ is Worthy of All Praise

Revelation 5: 4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” 6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

The main problem people have with true Christianity is that we proclaim that Christ is the only way to God. The world says that whatever you believe, if you are sincere, is sufficient for salvation.
We proclaim that Christ is the only way to God because the Bible says so. And it also tells us why: because only Christ has overcome sin and death.

The apostle John was weeping because no one had been found capable to fulfill the word of God written in His book. But one of the elders said to him: do not weep! The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David has triumphed! Christ is declared the only one worthy of praise because He has triumphed over sin and death! Christ is the only one who was tempted in every way and never sinned! He is the only one who defeated death when He resurrected on the third day!

John must have been looking for a Lion, but instead he saw a Lamb as though slain. From the depths of suffering at the hands of sinners, from the worst sin ever committed on this earth, the greatest victory!
He turned our defeat into victory. He promised that when we overcome, we will sit with Him on His throne, just as He overcame and sat with His Father on His throne. The power of God is demonstrated in our lives not because we can never be defeated; but in that even when we are defeated, sometimes by our own actions and decisions, Christ is powerful to turn our defeat into victory.
