02/15/2024 – Where do you Live?
2 Corinthians 5: For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,
Our largest expense on this earth is probably housing. The place where we live requires our greatest investment and, hopefully, the place of greatest joy. Today, God is calling you to invest more in your spiritual house than your material dwelling.
We have two main dwellings – one is a tent, a temporary dwelling in this world. Just like there was a tabernacle before there was a temple. The tent was temporary. The temple is eternal. It is the house the Lord Jesus is building. He is building His church. Jesus is the wise man who builds on the rock. What He builds will remain. If we obey His words, we can be like Him. We can build with Christ an eternal house!
All material dwellings are temporary. Our physical body is like a tent- a temporary dwelling. We are sojourners and pilgrims on this earth (1 Peter 2). No one has a permanent possession here. A sojourner is a visitor who knows that they will not stay for long. Their destiny, their permanent home is somewhere else.
The people of Israel were made to dwell in tents before they could have a permanent inheritance in the promised land. Their tents in the desert were for testing and learning. We also live in tents in this world. When we have persevered, we will move to the permanent and eternal.
