02/09/2024 – He who humbles himself will be exalted
Philippians 2: 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
If you regard your talents as unimportant, if you believe yourself unable to serve God, remember what God has done for you. Don’t let a sense of inferiority stop you, paralyze you like the negligent servant who received a single talent.
When you are rejected for a high position, there is always room for you at a lower level. We all desire more talent, meanwhile the Lord is looking for servants willing to be humbled as he was. Before ascending, Christ descended to the lowest parts of the earth. The best opportunities are available because few want them, as they are at the lowest level.
How many times do we despise what God has given us, our talents, our gifts, our brothers, and sisters? We covet and desire to have the skills of those who seem great and powerful. Meanwhile God is looking for humble people who value what God has given them: his little talent, his five loaves and two fishes. Out of our faith and faithfulness in God’s ordinary provision come our greatest victories
