01/16/2024 – God is our Provider
John 6: 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?
The Lord has demonstrated His power to supply all our needs despite how great the need and how little the resources.
The process by which He chooses to achieve this full provision is the process of multiplication.
First, we need to know that we are already blessed, and that blessing will be multiplied. God has already created everything required for victory and blessing, and He has set it aside for us It is already ours in Christ. God has provided all the persons that He will use to fulfill all His promises to His people. Right now, in the church of Christ, He has called and equipped all the people that are required for the establishment of His kingdom on earth. And He has placed all the people in your life, good and bad, that are required for the fulfilment of ALL your needs and His purpose in your life.
Often, we fail to trust and act because we consider ourselves and the people around us lacking the power and resources given such great need. But the Lord wants to remind us today that the least among us is capable and more likely to bless all of us.
Not only is the person God uses in this miracle small, but what he has to offer seems small. Andrew, the disciple, points out that the fish and the loaves are small – a kid’s meal. He also asks: how far will they go among so many?
Often, we fail to act, and we miss out on great blessings because we focus on the greatness of the need and the smallness of our resources, our gifts, and our talents. One of the qualities of God’s blessings is that they multiply. Do not despair because your current blessing is small. A small blessing is the best sign of a great one.
