01/03/2024 -Your Life has a Purpose: to Glorify God

Eddy De La Hoz   -

Isaiah 43: 5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. 6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth— 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

The moment we gave our lives to Christ, we became recipients of countless blessings. One of the greatest blessings, and one we seldom think about or thank God for is the gift of purpose. The Bible reveals the purpose of our lives. God created us for His glory.

It is evident that God created us. But even more wonderful is the purpose of our creation: God created us for His glory! But what is God’s glory? I want to define the glory of God as the irresistible manifestation of His presence. When the temple in Jerusalem was dedicated, the cloud of the glory of God filled the temple. The priests could not stand and had to leave the temple because od the overwhelming power of the glory of God.

Many people wonder the reason they live. They are seeking a meaningful purpose in this life. There can be no greater purpose for a creature than to be an instrument to proclaim and magnify the glory of the God of all the universe! Nothing is more righteous, and nothing brings more joy or greater reward to a person.

I remember asking myself this question: “why was I born?” I questioned the purpose of my life at a very young age. My family lived in poverty, and I suffered from a chronic illness. I had to take pills that made me sleep much of the day. One day I fell asleep during class with my head on my desk, next to my open notebook. When my mom went to check my lesson, she found a note from the teacher: “Please do not send this child to school anymore”.

I felt like there was nothing good that I could accomplish on this earth. But God showed me that He had a purpose for me. He has a purpose for you also. God has designed us and equipped us for His glory. There can be no greater reason to live.
