10/16/2023 – Heaven’s Time Zone
Ecclesiastes 3: 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Only wisdom from God can enable us to recognize the times and seasons that God has assigned to our lives. We cannot predict them- the future belongs only to God. But when they come, we must know them and live in the time.
Salomon realized, after only worrying about material life, that he needed to live spiritually. And he presents the most important elements to life under heaven.
The first element he mentions is time. To live under God’s heaven on this earth, to appreciate and love life, you must live in God’s time. There are different time zones on earth. When you ask: what time is it, you must specify where. Heaven has a completely different time zone to the ones on this earth. God has determined what time it is in your life, no matter what your watch says!
He demonstrates God’s sovereignty over your times with his first statement: a time to be born. How much input did you have over the date and time you were born? None at all. It was God’s decision, God’s plan. How about your time to die? That belongs to God as well.
All the times of your life belong to God. He made everything beautiful in its time. We must be wise to count our days, to redeem the time in this world so that we may live with God for all eternity.
