10/09/2023 – Lord, please give me wisdom

Eddy De La Hoz   -

1 Kings 3: 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

Some of your prayer requests please God more than others. When we ask God for something, we should make sure that what we ask is pleasing to Him. One of the most pleasing requests we can make of God is for wisdom to accomplish His purpose. God wants you to ask Him for wisdom, and He desires to make you wise.

The one virtue that the Bible keeps telling us to seek more of is wisdom. I am convinced that our constant need as children of God is wisdom.
The way we do something is as important as what we do. It is not enough to achieve a good end. How we achieve it makes all the difference. It is not enough that we achieve victory…we must achieve it the right way.
Salomon asked for wisdom so that he could fulfill the purpose of God for his life. And God was pleased with Salomon’s request. God was also pleased for what Salomon did NOT ask. We should not ask God for victory when we are unwilling to fight for what is right. We should not ask to prosper when we are foolish and disobedient with the blessings we receive. It is not enough that we ask God to destroy our enemies. We must ask for wisdom to overcome them.
God granted Salomon his request, and He added everything else. Salomon sought first the kingdom of God, and all other needs were added onto him. You also…seek first the kingdom of God.
