04/04/2023 – Three Days That Can Transform Your Life – The Burial of Christ
Matthew 27:57As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.
On the day after Christ was crucified, the disciples were forced by the law of the old covenant to wait. There was nothing they could do. This was a day of realizing that all the anger and frustration, all their hopes and desires, could achieve NOTHING. All they could do was wait.
This day represents those periods of our lives when we cannot see what God is doing…when it seems God is doing nothing. In fact, those are the times He is doing the most. On this mysterious day, things took place that are too great for us to comprehend. The greatness of this day is manifested in the fact that despite their failures and doubt, God kept them together and would not allow the flame of hope to be completely extinguished. Even when they sought Christ among the dead, He sent angels to reveal to them He was alive. He sent witnesses. Even when some tried to walk away, to give up, the Lord Himself would appear next to them to bring them back.
They did not see how anything would change. And this is the perfect condition for a miracle. When everything seems lost and we are this close to losing hope, wait for the Lord! When you realize there is NOTHING you can really do…wait for Him! Wait for the third day! All He wants is one more day! He will manifest His glory to you if you only wait for Him!
