10/31/2022 – Colors of the Season
Early fall in the Hudson Valley is a wonderful time of the year, this is when the mornings greet you with crisp cool air, reminding you winter is near. This is also when we see the squirrels and chipmunks at their busiest, collecting their acorns to ready themselves for the harsh winter months ahead. But hands down the most spectacular sight marveled and enjoyed by all who witness it, is the turning of the leaves at their peak. A spectrum of fading greens giving way to bright yellows, all sorts of red and brown colors and shades. It’s as each leaf type has been distinctly painted, from the oak, maple, dogwood trees, each tree contributing to its part in repainting the landscape. But the fact is that for these trees to display such splendor, something must die, more precisely the leaves must die.
Isaiah 6:1
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Uzziah took the throne at the age of 16 and reigned for about 52 years. For the most part his reign was a prosperous one. King Uzziah “did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord”. But strangely enough Isaiah did not see the Lord during the prosperous reign of the King. Isaiah saw the Lord only after the beloved King died. Something had to die before Isaiah could see the glory of God. Isaiah’s witness the very throne room of God almighty; his description and details were incredible. But again, something had to die, then and only then did Isaiah saw the Lord.
God is wanting to show you His glory, God is wanting to show you His splendor, but truth be told, we all have a little king Uzziah in our hearts, that little king must first die. Only you and God know what that little king Uzziah represents in you. Whatever that thing is, it must first die before we see the Glory of God unfold before us.
Today Meditate on this verse: ACTS 3:19-20 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
